Tennessee State University is in conjunction with the John Marshall School of Law and they will be orchestrating a Mock Trial Competition Feburary 17-18, 2012 at the University.

As part of the law school’s long-standing commitment to access and opportunity to an excellent education, the Undergraduate Diversity Mock Trial Competitions were established to encourage interest in the law among diverse undergraduate students. According to attorney Robert Smith, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, student participants will have the opportunity to conduct significant aspects of a full trial in a courtroom setting and experience how the law is practiced and applied. “The competition will familiarize students with the concepts of trials (including direct and cross examinations), evidentiary issues, and opening and closing statements.” said Dr. Smith. “This will also help students become better citizens and advocates for our legal system.” The competition has grown each year and is open to all students at the University, not just Pre-Law students. Don't miss out on this awesome opportunity!

"Tennessee State University has been named to the 2009
President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction, the highest
federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering,
service-learning and civic engagement. "-via TNSTATE.EDU

This is truly a testiment to our institutions motto Think, Work, Serve. In 2008 we were selected as a Community Service honoree, but as we have progressed in our service to others so has our recognition. Congratulations TSU!!! We must continue to expand our service for the benefit of our communities.

"As associate director of the University's honors program, Latham has been busy prepping high-achieving students to take on the world through global leadership. He placed the first of three through two fundraising initiatives for the Honors Program, evolved the program's curriculum into a rigorous four-course model patterned after the academic program at Harvard University's Business School and designed an annual Student Leadership Conference that helps students learn how to approach their careers from a global perspective...."
